It's too quiet in here

Right now I'm sitting in the Synthesis lab that I work in and it is sooo quiet! I'm gonna have to bring some CDs with me next time so that I don't go crazy. Since it is Friday, there are not many people in ISAT and so I almost feel like I'm the only one in the building! I also wish there were some windows in this room cause that would help too. But I guess this room does provide a good atmosphere to get work done since there are no distractions!

So there hasn't been anything too important that has happened since my last blog. Yesterday and today have pretty much consisted of waking up and coming to this lab to do some work. I've got a list of things to do for both of my projects and I'm making pretty good progress on them. I finished indexing a whole load of files for Green Springs and was able to take them to the Copy Center. See, before the files can be put on the computer, they all have to be scanned. Since that would take little old me forever to do by myself, we have a deal with the Copy Center for them to scan all the documents in each file and save them on a disk for us. However, before I can take the files to the Copy Center, I have to number each of the documents and make an index sheet that tells what is in each folder. If the folder is very large, indexing can take almost an hour for one folder. So I got about six folders done yesterday and took them to the Copy Center. It usually takes them about a week to scan all the documents, so I'll go pick those up next week. In the meantime, I have plenty of other files to index.

Also, I figured something out yesterday that has been giving people problems with Synthesis! I was going to have to call the guy who made Synthesis and ask him what to do, but since I'm so smart I figured it out all by myself! haha. Basically, the problem was that the runtime version of Synthesis wasn't working properly for Green Springs. There was a little more to it than that, but its hard to explain.

After my day of work I usually just go back and relax in my apartment or find other people around to hang out with. I have one out of my 3 other roommates staying in the apartment with me this summer. We should have fun! However, JMU and Harrisonburg seem so different in the summer when everyone is gone! I've never been here in the summer before, so I didn't know what to expect. A lot of people I know are studying abroad this summer, which would be so much fun. I wish that I had done that at some point. ISAT has a study abroad trip that goes to Malta, an island in the Mediterranean south of Italy. The 2005 trip is actually going on right now. I know a couple of people that have gone on the trip in the past and they have always said it was the trip of a lifetime.

One thing for sure about this summer... I will have plenty of free time! I'm psyched about that because I definitley don't have much free time if any during the school year! Well, I'm going to leave the Synthesis lab now and go to UREC (University Recreation) so I can work on getting in shape for summer! UREC is a great facility here at JMU and I don't take advantage of it as often as I should!
