Last semester of college
So Winter break is now over, and I am back at JMU to attend my last semester of college here. Already the first week has come and gone. Spring break will be here soon enough and then... graduation! Unbelievable! Winter break was so much fun because it was great to spend time with my family and my friends back in Tennessee. I didn't realize how much I missed them. The only thing bad about three weeks of vacation from school is that it is very hard to get back into the daily grind of school with papers, lab reports, and projects to work on. I am very determined not to let senioritis kick in, but its very hard not too... especially since I aready have a job lined up!
That's right... I have a job! Over break I came to the decision to work for CGI-AMS. I am very excited to go work there. Now I am split between wanting to stay at college and wanting to get started with the next part of my life.
Having a job already makes it harder to stay focused with classes, but I guess I can look at the classes as gaining extra experience for my job!
Speaking of classes, I have 3 classes on Tuesday and the same 3 again on Thursday. Although I only have classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, my days off are still filled with meetings and work for the internship that I am still doing. The classes I am taking are Internetworking, Multimedia, and Network Applications Development. They all seem to be interesting. For the Multimedia class, we have already started working on a project that involves making a multimedia presentation with a group. My group will be making a simulation of the solar system. We will have all nine planets and the sun in their orbits and provide facts about each of the planets. I think it will be a fun project to do, especially since I have discovered that my knowledge of the solar system needs some brushing up. In the Network Applications Development class we have started doing programming in C. I have never really had much experience with C, but some of it is similar to Java, so I am hoping to catch on quickly.
In addition to classes, my internship has been keeping me busy lately. We are in the process of starting a new project and there has been a lot of work to do right off the bat. Tomorrow morning there is a meeting with the people who are funding the project, and I will be in charge of telling them what has been done and how we do it. I guess this will be good practice for my job at CGI since I am positive I will have to make presentations at meetings there.
Well I think that about catches you up! Have a great week!
