Snow!

I woke up this morning to find the ground covered with snow! I had no idea it was even supposed to snow today. It was a nice surprise. I really do like when it snows, except for when I am running late to a class and have to take the time to scrape my car off. I also wish that all the snow we have been having lately had come in December and January when it would make more sense to snow. Now that March is approaching, I'm starting to want some warmer weather headed this way. I won't have to wait long for warm weather though! In two weeks it will be on spring break on a cruise ship headed towards the Carribean! I can hardly wait. Until then I've got a lot to keep me busy though.

Today, for example, is a day that I don't have any classes. However, its not the relaxing day off that I had hoped it would be. At 9am I had to meet with a geology professor here at JMU to pick up documents for my internship in the Synthesis lab. Then at 11am I was supposed to meet with a ranger at the Shenandoah Park Headquarters in Luray (about a 45 minute drive from here) to pick up some other documents. However, thanks to the snow, that meeting will be postponed until Friday. Right now I'm actually in the Synthesis lab in ISAT getting ready to start doing some of the work that needs to be done. Then after that I'm going to grab some lunch and head back to my apartment where I plan to spend at least two hours working on a program for my network programming class. The program I have to make is actually comprised of two programs--a client program and a server program. My task is to implement a scenario where the client program sends the contents of a file to the server and the server writes that file to a destination file. Its definitely not as simple as it sounds.

After working on that program for a couple of hours, I have a senior thesis meeting with my group members and my advisor. We are almost finished with the whole website; there are just a few minor details that we keep finding we need to work on. After the meeting with them, we are then meeting with the sponsors of our thesis to show them what we have done and see what they have to say. Depending upon what they say, we might have more things that need to be done to our project.

Hopefully after the meeting I'll be able to go to UREC and relieve some stress. I always look forward to a good run at UREC. Then its back to the apartment for dinner and working on the program for the rest of the night. Whew, I can't wait until this day is over. Wednesday nights are always the worst because I have to do the homework for all my classes on Thursday, but Wednesday nights are also my last week night and so I can't can't complain! I'm looking forward to Thursday night when my weekend will begin!

Happy V-day!

Ok, so I'm a day late with the Valentine's thing, but I didn't have time to write yesterday, so I thought that I would do it today instead. Hope you all had great Valentine's Days whether you were flying solo or with someone. I had a very relaxing day because I slept in, took assessments, and then watched a movie with a friend. Usually I have 3 classes on Tuesdays, but yesterday was "Assessment Day," which is where the students have to take assessment tests to see what they have learned since they've been at JMU. The tests vary based on major and the number of credits you have. My assessment, for example, was just a group "exit interview" with the head of the ISAT department. He just asked some questions and we had a group discussion. Pretty easy as far as assessments go!

Lets see... I know its been awhile since I've written. Since then I have just been doing school work and doing work for my internship. On Mondays and Wednesdays when I don't have classes I work for a few hours for the internship and on Tuesdays and Thursdays I go to my 3 classes. It all works out pretty well. On the weekends I haven't had much work so I have time to hang out with friends and go on trips. Last Saturday I was actually able to go skiing at Wintergreen which was a lot of fun. It snowed all day so it was perfect weather for some skiing! The weekend before that I went to an auto show in DC. There were so many cool cars to look at. It gave me an opportunity to pick out the car I want to buy when I'm rich someday haha. Then we ate at Chinatown for dinner, which was a fun experience because I'd never been to Chinatown.

This weekend I will be going home to Tennessee because I have a dentist appointment. I'm not looking forward to the drive but it will be good to see my family!

Well I think that's it for now! Have a great rest of the week!
